Creating With Intent - The Foundation
Mark's workshops are based in Creating with Intent: the process of making an image based on what you find compelling about your subject. You learn to produce images that are both well executed and uniquely yours. The experience is intense and highly challenging, pushing past your normal comfort level.
On Lighting
Mark's approach is about using uncomplicated setups and minimal equipment to get good results without spending a lot of money. Good lighting can be surprisingly simple. The real work is done with your eyes and your mind; setting up a stand is easy once you know what you want to do. You will learn to visualize, manipulate, and create light on location.
Photographing People for Publication
This three day workshop intensive is offered in Los Angeles and focuses on creating publication quality portraits. We cover how to handle lighting, locations, studio, posing, and creating publication quality portraiture appropriate to the professional market. Participants shoot all three days.
We emphasize using single sources (both strobe and tungsten), combining them with existing light, and more complicated setups.
The Exceptional Portrait - Two Day Extreme
Offered throughout the country, this workshop is deeply rooted in the step-by-step process of creating with intent, and will cover how to interview your subject and use that information to build your photo. Mark demonstrates this process from conceptualization to finished imagery.
You’ll learn to get professional results with everything from Home Depot lights to studio strobes. Participants shoot both days.
