Bill & Linda Lane's Nature's Image Photography Field Workshops
Join Bill and Linda Lane in their 16th year as a team conducting nature photography field workshops that feature hands-on instruction mainly in the field, demonstrations, group discussions, Q&A sessions, and plenty of one-on-one. Meet, share, and learn from not only the Lanes but other participants making for camaraderie and a wide array of experiences. Specializing in the Eastern U.S., their workshops maintain a comfortable, unintimidating atmosphere. Home-cooked meals are provided by the Lanes whenever possible and for two workshops meals are served in their WV cabin.
"We stress the importance of visual sensitivity, the art of seeing, technical knowledge in the creation of a pleasing photograph, the importance of researching your subject material and viewing the subject from different perspectives. We demonstrate the unlimited effects of the art of design in composition and natural light, experiment with creative uses of equipment such as filters, diffusers and reflectors, discuss how light, color, balance and placement play on composition, and introduce you to the exciting field of close-up/macro photography. Proper exposure and good light are the keys." Totally digitalized, but still hanging on to their film cameras, the Lanes welcome all formats and experience levels.
Bill and Linda Lane have conducted workshops for 21 years, are published, teach at the University of Richmond, Va., and have customized workshops for Duke University and the Tandem Schools. For 10 years they conducted weekend workshops in conjunction with the State of Virginia's Department of Parks and Recreation.
Workshops feature field work plus classroom instruction, Q&A's & photo critiquing. Both film & digital with concentration on lighting, equipment, technique, composition & the art of seeing.
