Photography is an expressive art form that primarily relies on observational skills in relationship to light, form, and composition. This workshop helps participants fine tune their sensitivities, enabling them to better understand how photography can capture and express the artist's inner vision.
Daily field excursions, which focus on landscapes, people and architecture, are complemented by class demos, critiques and discussions. This workshop is recommended for those shooting digitally, traditionally, or those interested in alternative processes such as photo printmaking/polymer gravure, and mixed media techniques.
My home and studio located in southern Tuscany between Rome and Florence serve as the workshop base. The terrain of this unique area is undulating, rolling hills, valleys and forests offset by mountains populated with small villages, ancient Etruscan towns and medieval castles. The foods, wines and restaurants maintain the charm of an unspoiled Italian culture. This is a unique opportunity for those who have been searching to discover and photograph in Italy where few tourists find their way.
I have been a commercial and fine art photographer for more than 23 years, most of that time living and photographing in the Southwest US. I have specialized in architectural and interior photography as well as landscapes and portraiture. Recently, I was teaching digital photography and experimental photo in Florence Italy at the University Lorenzo De Medici. I also teach photo polymer gravure printing. I have also been teaching workshops in printmaking/ mixed media and photographic alternative processes including solar plate/Imagon and Platinum Palladium printing.
Workshops focusing on landscape & architecture that cover composition, lighting, printing & the creative process.
